Subject: Harvard-bound Lincoln senior earns DAR Good Citizen honor

The Cambridge City-based National Old Trails Daughters of the American Revolution chapter has chosen Daniel Golliher as its Good Citizen winner.
Golliher, the son of Alan and Susan Golliher of Cambridge City, is a senior at Lincoln High School. After graduation, he will go to Harvard University on a full scholarship to study constitutional law and divinity.
The DAR Good Citizens program is open to all high school seniors enrolled in public or private schools. Winners demonstrate dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their home, school and community.
The chapter oversees the Good Citizen competitions for the Centerville, Hagerstown and Western Wayne school districts
Golliher's activities include four years of FFA, including serving as treasurer and participating in public speaking, crops, poultry, soil judging, presentation management (second at state contest, 10th at nationals) and parliamentary procedures team (first at state, eighth and fourth at nationals).
Also, he served four years on the history and science academic teams, including a time as science team captain; Optimist speaking contest; band with four years playing alto saxophone; marching band, serving as a section leader and soloist; jazz, pep and concert bands; piano and violin lessons; National Honor Society for two years; varsity track two years; and varsity cross country four years.
He is a member of the Jacksonburg Christian Church and through the church attended the National Missionary Convention.
Golliher has earned college credits from Indiana University East, Ivy Tech Community College and Earlham College.
He plans to attend Harvard and then earn a master's degree to become a consultant at a law firm. His dream is to represent Indiana as a U.S. Senator.
