so i graduated from Wash U (summa cum laude, 3.87) with a degree in the Interdisciplinary Project in the Humanities, which sounds like bullshit but is actually the most rigorous Humanities program at Wash U (mandatory thesis, 9 hour comprehensive exam, great books program plus indiv.-directed research focus).
Question is - can I get an I-banking job off this background? I have no minor in econ, no finance experience (minus a 1-month job doing research for my uncle's hedge fund in London the year after high school). All I have is connections (uncle who balls and is very willing to help me out). Is it realistic to try to get into ibanking from this perspective? When i went to info sessions that my career center conducted they told me i could only do back-office stuff given my lack of quantitative experience. I have also heard, however, that if you seem smart, focused, etc they will hire and train you - but does this count if I am smart, focused, and creative in regards to interpreting Foucault?
