geeves must work at Manny Hanny. It's a respectable music school, but it is fully eclipsed by New England, Oberlin, Eastman (Rochester) , Rice, Michigan, Carnegie Mellon and obliterated by the Royal Academy, Juilliard, Curtis (with its 3% acceptance rate) and Peabody (Johns Hopkins).
Stop peddling nonsense, whoever you are.

I agree with Vaigaina, as I usually do. I add Northwestern and Vanderbilt Blair to that list. Even though other schools have good musicians, these schools have brilliant musicians.

The truth is, Manhattan is good for a Doctorate, but otherwise mostly a sad stop-gap measure for people who are not going to have careers as professional musicians, and haven't faced the facts yet. ESPECIALLY for winds!!! Especially.
Northwestern for undergrad is very good - not as glamorous as a conservatory, but you'll go far with their excellent aural skills and theory program under your belt - not unlike Rice in that way. I would mention Bard as a good option for undergrad as well, if you were interested in jazz, music history, or musicology.
