What the fuck happened? Why did Jeff make those changes? Who started this site? What is the relationship between the two sites? Amiable? Hostile?

- The PR Gods have ruled. The old software is being jettisoned for more hack proof board software.

- The first day becomes known as "The Great Ruin" as members realize the software will create a wasteland. Board activity sinks over 66% on the first day.

- Law and college posters both rush onto XO on the same day. This has become known as the "Exodus".

- Law and college posters must survive posting in the same space.

4/04

- In response to a truce offer from Jeff, XO management meets the conditions and Jeff promises he will order mods on PR to avoid deleting posts containing XO links. XO management today questions if this agreement is being upheld.

- The board is paritioned. "The Blessed Division"

- PR activity plummets 98% on it's worst day.

- An uncertain future. Where shall XO recruit new blood?

the old pr regs (the ones who used to be here before pr discussion board changed its format) made a new site (called xoxohth) that was modeled after the old pr board. I think there was a rivalry b/c the old regs didn't want to see the pr board change and once it did, they said "screw it" to pr... I think this took a lot of the traffic away from this [pr] board and a truce will probably help both sides (bring some traffic to princetonreview.com and introduce new users to xoxohth.com)

Let me point out, however, that while we may have a working truce with xoxohth in the hope that both parties can peacefully coexist any attempts to blatently spam the Princeton Review discussion forums with links and/or referrals to xoxohth will not be tolerated as per the House Rules. This is not a new policy, just a reminder of what we expect of the members of our community.

The only thing I like about the new PR site is the hit counter. I always knew there were swarms of lurkers! But aside from that, I concur: it's a shithole.

So, has Jeff stopped deleting references to this site? I only found out by revisiting xmatt's database.

Do you know that it was Jeff who proposed the change? I've always felt that Jeff was very concerned and responsive to students' viewpoints. I was a total asshole to him, something I regret now, but he was never (too) unfair in his censorship.

I think it's more probable that some users' parents discovered the content of the board (replete with bukkake references), and complained to the higher powers who pressured Jeff to make the changes, over his complaints. Now that the changes have been made and the board is destroyed, Jeff is pushing the company's perspective because that's his job. I'll bet anything that he tried to prevent this.

Look at US News. SAME AMOUNT OF TARGETED TRAFFIC FROM HOPEFULS AND PARENTS. And yet the board peaks at 15 threads a day. PR is fated that way next year.
