A lot of day schools will have SAT averages around 1300, offhand I can think of ten or so in the Philadelphia and Baltimore region with 1300+ SAT averages yet they're not on the list.

some of those, like Noble and Greenough, get a large number of applications because the applicant pool includes lots of kids that would be day students (commuters). N and G is close enough to Boston/Cambridge that lots of kids commute.

St. Albans doesn't belong on the list. It may have a boarding division but by far most of the students are day students.

yea but boarding schools are the ones that are usually the most self-selective.. thus giving them the most "qualified" students.. although i hardly see high SAT scores as "smart" or "intelligence". For all we know, most of these kids are probably trolls who work all day on improving their college admissions chances and do hw all day. Also, a lot of these kids who come outta these places tend to have very closed minds due to a lack of diversity in their boarding school (mostly upper class white/asian kids).

Actually, there are boarding schools that have a high percentage of diverse students so what you're saying about how boarding school kids are 'closed-minded' has no basis. Andover, Choate and Peddie are quite diverse.

Also, lack of diversity doesn't equate to closed-mindedness.

smaller, local private schools like College Prep (in Oakland), Roxbury Latin (in Boston), and Collegiate (in NYC) tend to have the highest SAT scores. Especially the latter two because they're all guys and guys have many more very-high scorers.
