I went to Nothwestern. I didn't have any problems "tell[ing] someone" where I went.
Maybe it's you, dude.

As to the allegations regarding sexual abuse, I am frankly astonished at the close-minded views towards sex. I know dozens of perfectly healthy relationships that involve an element of domination play, S&M, etc. Power is sexy, both being in power and the giving of power to someone else, and as long as everyone stays safe, this play is fine. The comment from Mir that they had a safety word should not be ignored. This makes me think of an episode of Sex and City where Samantha engages in role-playing with the boyfriend Smith in which she is a housewife and he is a burglar who breaks in, forces her down and screams "SHUT THE FUCK UP" as they have sex. Of course, the friends are appalled but Samantha says, "You can't censor a fantasy." Rape fantasies might make people uncomfortable but that does not erase the fact that people have them, and explore them in safe venues with significant others. There is DEFINITELY a jump between sexual fantasy and what you really want to happen. I say cheers to Chen for giving so honest a portrayal of sex, with which many people can surely relate.
Caley Walsh also seems very "oral"

You're clearly not smart enough to get into Northwestern. From the sound of it you'll be fortunate if you don't fail out of city college. Good luck with that, loser.

LOL. Time heals the rejection letter wounds. I hear UIUC is actually nice, so you'll get over it.

This thread perfectly exemplifies my last post on the topic:
"It is well known by educated people on both coasts. However, people from the east coast tend to view it as a backup for the lesser ivy league schools. I've not lived on the West Coast, but I'd assume that the same is true. People from the midwest hold it in higher regard. The result is that the dumbest kids in each class hail from the coasts."

Not gonna lie, a heckuva lot of kids I know who went there regret the debt load given their 3.5s in political science and terrible social lives.

Are you retarded?
You're barely coherent, and you seem to be suggesting that a shitty LSAT from another school with the same GPA would lead to a better result.
You're wrong.
I think the problem is that you're a moron.

3.5 in poli sci from NU will get you a decent consulting job, and if it's true that the best you can do with a 3.5/161 is Chicago-Kent, then that would be true for anywhere, not just NU.
By the way, I hope everyone realizes that "Bestwestern" is pure flame.

I hate these xoxo anecdotes, but it's all I've got ... numerous poli sci/humanities NU friends just graduated. They were unable to find, did not want, or lacked the skills for the consulting/banking gigs (not to mention those gigs aren't out there in a 1:1 ratio for graduates:jobs open). TFA, campaign gigs, and graduate school are the most popular option. Given Northwestern's 161 average, I'm just sayin, for a good number of these kids, along with a heckuva lot of debt and years of social frustration, they get a big fat 3 years at say... Tulane or Loyola Law. Nothing bad and I'm sure a Northwestern student has the potential to do amazing at these schools, but I gotta wonder if your typical kid from the Chicago 'burbs going to NU would have been better off fucking bad bitches down at UIUC, saving the dough, and ending up at the same 161 average law school.

Depends on what the person wants to do with their career. But remember your own admission--these are simply anecdotes. I knew a lot of people at NU who went to incredible graduate schools. Doesn't mean that this is either the rule or the exception. Of the many people I knew who went to law school, they ran the gambit from Yale and Stanford to Marquette and Loyola. I have no idea what their scores were, for the most part, but I think you're just playing into this guy's flame by suggesting that NU is playing feeder to Loyola and Chicago-Kent. Remember--Harvard's LSAT average is in the low 160s as well, so using that as a measure is misleading. The truth is that any decent school is going to send its students to a range of programs and professions. What you're saying about Northwestern can be said about almost any expensive private school. A 161/3.5 at Purdue will likely end up at the same place as a 161/3.5 at Northwestern. Then again, we're talking law admissions, which only minimally considers the quality of undergrad as a criterion. The Purdue grad would have a more difficult time finding a consulting or finance job of any quality, for instance, than the NU grad would.
Anyway...it's all just food for thought, I guess, but I just don't buy that "Bestwestern" is anything but flame/troll. I also feel that, if you believed xoxo common knowledge, you'd think that a kid with a 170/3.5 at Harvard could take a shit on his Yale Law application and get in, while a kid with a 4.0 and a 180 from Northwestern would be begging Penn Law for admission. Ridiculous, obviously.

I went to a CUNY for UG, and I am now at a T14. When I was considering Northwestern for law school people would always say things like "Why not just go to Brooklyn or St. John's?". Having to fend off the idiocy of lay people can certainly be frustrating at times, OP; but I wouldn't get too worked up over it. While NU obviously isn't top dog in its own , it is certainly a good institution. Don't worry about if idiots on the east coast know what/where it is.

I lived in NYC for awhile. When I first moved there, I expected to get that kind of reaction when I told people I'd gone to NU. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the fact that the vast majority of people who asked knew about it and knew that it was a decent school.
In the south, though--where I went to high school--people regularly mistook Northwestern to mean Northwestern State University and had never heard of NU.
