On East Coast it's the Columbia MBA. On the West Coast probably the JD.

Actually, a former roommate of mine just transferred into Berkeley for his JD. I must say I am impressed. I underestimated the guy.

prestige is equal, but I would take the Columbia MBA over the Boalt JD any day, even if I had a free ride at Berkeley.

A (T14) JD is almost always more prestigious than an MBA. The only time it is even a conversation is if you're talking Wharton/Tuck level schools.

With that said, Boalt is probably the biggest joke of the T14. They have, by far, the lowest LSAT 25/75.

He said Columbia. Columbia is generally considered a notch above the Tuck/Fuqua/UVA type MBA programs.

This is ridiculous. If you want to be in or around the legal profession, get the JD. If you want to be in or around business/finance, get the MBA. There is an argument to be made for getting both degrees in some cases, but nitpicking about prestige levels between two completely different types of programs is a joke.

You forgot what matters most on this board. Find the thread by some guy asking for advice on pursuing law or medicine as a career. It's like if I were to ask people to decide for me if I should purse a Ph.D in physics or one in English literature at equally prestigious programs.
