As I get older I see the wisdom in all those old stories. There is indeed a straight and narrow and it's damn hard to stay on.

A good test of morality is to ask yourself of something you are considering, "Would this frighten children?"

my favorite fable is that of the turtle and the hare.

It keeps me motivated to be a fucking turtle while bitchazz strivers run around and shit.

I love that fable. And after reading The Millionaire Next Door you realize it's true.

I'm more a fan of "chance favors the prepared mind". The tortoise may beat the hare, but the tortoise would get his ass kicked by, say, the stallion or the hound. Sometimes to make great gains you have to take calculated, well thought out risks.

Being a tortoise is fine if you have a lot of follow through but little natural ability, but slowly grinding and grinding away while expecting your opponents to burn themselves out won't get you to the top.

One of my favorite sayings is "beware all enterprises that require new clothes".

I know it doesn't necessarily apply to professional situations where we need a specific work wardrobe, but any kind of social endeavor that encourages or necessitates the purchase of different clothing (and not for something practical, like buying ski wear for learning to ski) is something of which I'm immediately suspect.
