Daniel Day-Lewis’ Comeback Film, ‘Anemone,’ Set for October Release May 13, 2025 Daniel Day-Lewis, widely regarded as one of the greatest actors of all-time, is coming out of retirement after eight years of big screen inactivity.
The legendary actor is set to star in Focus Features and Plan B’s upcoming film “Anemone,” which, no coincidence, happens to be the directorial debut of his son, and known painter/artist, Ronan Day-Lewis. “Anemone” has now set up an October 3rd limited opening — smack dab in the middle of the awards season calendar.
Daniel and Rona also co-wrote the script, which will explore "the complex and profound ties that exist between brothers, fathers, and sons." No further plot details were given.
Day-Lewis is playing lead, his first role since 2017’s “Phantom Thread.” The rest of the cast includes Sean Bean, Samantha Morton, Samuel Bottomley and Safia Oakley-Green. Ben Fordesman (“Love Lies Bleeding”) will serve as director of photography. |
