Asheville gets all the love, but Brevard absolutely shits on Asheville unless you care about microbreweries and art galleries.
The Grand Staircase/Escalante Monument is just as pretty as Utah's "Mighty Five," but has about 2% of the people. You need to go off road to see most of it, though.
And while I wouldn't go so far as to recommend Pittsburgh as a travel destination, I was there for a family thing recently and it was surprisingly 180. I was expecting a decaying Rust Belt hellscape, but it was actually fairly picturesque, and the museums and restaurants were excellent. |
