The sweatshop laborer today making 8k a year can afford a decent apartment (they cost like $40k in most Chinese cities) a relatively decent $8k class-B automobile like the Dacia Logan or pretty much any Renault. He has electricity, gas, a cell phone, internet, and all the same conveniences you do. The average American has maybe 800sq feet more to their name, and drives a slightly better automobile, but if you had to live that dudes life you would find it pretty damn decent or at least recognizable.
India and Africa are still another story, and they all shit in buckets or on street corners, but Asia is no longer so poor you have to thank your lucky stars you born a Westerner. |
