Two of my co-workers announced that they were leaving in a month to take jobs with law firms in the city.
Trial experience matters in litigation. If you want to chase commas all day, then being a Prosecutor is pointless. |

- arguing motions
- drafting briefs
- negotiating with opposing counsel for a mutual resolution

State prosecutors spend almost zero time drafting briefs, and when they do its pure boilerplate garbage, which is very useful for shitlaw -- so I agree that state prosecution is useful for shitlaw. "negotiating" with opposing counsel is also not at all useful in biglaw-style civil lit. neither is arguing motions based on almost no prep, where neither side wrote a brief, and if they did the judge didn't read it and just makes some horseshit decision based on his own ideas, which is what happens in state criminal court.
basically, state crim law is maybe somewhat transferrable to state civil practice because both are full of lawyers with hundreds of cases and no time for prep whose work is all bs. it is of ZERO utility for fed court. |
