depends how big of a screw-up happens i guess. if you just paid over double for a company and the books are a mess and you realize afterward you just spent a billion on almost nothing -- and a banker could have easily done a valuation and told you that you were insane to pay $1 bill+ -- i'm not sure it would be enough to be like "hey bros it was my business judgment that we shouldn't engage experts to value a $1 billion+ acquisition!"
