Firm is about 70 lawyers.

Founding partners made $1.4mm last year. Newest partner (02 grad) made $375k. Firm averaged $605k ppp.

Not sure what to think about this, but can't believe they have this document on the system with no lock.

SF

No idea about salaries. There are "of counsel" and "senior counsel" that probably make more than partners because of their clients and just don't have any interest in being a partner...but not 100% sure.

I make $200k, and between origination and hours will get like a $50-70k bonus.

375 is a lot more than 200

you have to realize that there is some amount that's required you to get over the hump of a upper middle class lifestyle (rent/mortgage on a nice place, car, food, kids, vacations, whatever), and anything on top of that is discretionary spending. so let's say for arguments sake that amount is 100k.

200k is only 100k+ more than that (60k after taxes aka an extra 5k a month), but $375k is 150k+ after taxes (aka an extra 12k a month). +7k a month discretionary income is a lot of extra money. that's a super nice vacation every month

at $200k you still care about purchases in the several hundred dollar range

at $375 you can afford to not give a shit about most expenses until they are over a few k

agree with this in theory but i would argue in a really high COL area like SF, you need at least $350-400k combined to have that upper middle class lifestyle and comfortably afford your $1800-M mortgage, cars, kids, 2 vacays/year, etc.

true story.

A dood I work with went out on vacation and had another associate take care of closing a deal while he was gone. closing got all fucked up, and my buddy was taking a lot of heat. he manned up and took it, but was surprised because he spent a lot of time making sure everything was perfect and ready to go. so he checks the document history of a few keys docs and sees that the other associate edited them after the closing to cover her fuck up. needless to say, shit rained down on the other associate.

she changed the documents to make it look like my buddy fucked something up on a checklist and some related docs, which in turn caused the closing to go wrong.

in reality, she fucked everything up and had she followed my buddy's docs, everything would have been fine.

she's a worthless cunt that is somehow still at the firm. I avoid her at all costs.
