It isn't easy for a dude to qualify for on the first attempt unless they were already serious runners with lots of mileage under their belts. That's not especially impressive I guess, but it was top 5 overall at one of the marathons I tried at - one with something like 500 finishers. The other one I tried at 3:05 was still inside the top 1% for about 7,000 people. It does seem like it's a lot easier to qualify when you get a little older. So I guess I've got that to look forward to. I'm sticking to shorter distances for the rest of the year anyway. Racking up a fair number of top 10s at medium sized 5/10ks. I won a smallish 5k today. |
