Greetings,
Welcome to the club, brother.
I know this is pretty axiomatic, but I believe in work for its own sake, so that's what keeps me going at my job. Doing good work is its own reward. So I end up successful despite not striving for it.
Also, 99% of what we buy is shit, pure shit, that we don't need and won't remotely enjoy one month after buying it. I realized a 10" bigger, new TV won't bring me nearly as much aggregate happiness as doing another week with my wife in a country I've never been to, which I tend to reminisce about for years.
I'm still fondly recalling, often, our honeymoon and first non-honeymoon vacation, from years ago.

Greetings,
I'm GC of a small company, which makes me a decisionmaker and a jerb creator. We also do no evil. We may give up a bit in profits, but we don't dick around with our employees and treat them like shit (can't say the same for other companies in our field and how they treat, particularly, H1Bs).
The fact that I can make good money doing this is very rewarding.
I also enjoy teaching and making art. But I do require more than 30K/yr to live on. Making art as a hobby is enough right now, and I have a high school sister, some young nieces and nephews, and will in a few years have kids myself, so I'll be doing that on the reg anyway.
Myers-Brigg tests basically say my perfect professions are teacher, lawyer, politician. The "communicate big ideas" types.
