HYS rising 2L here. Top 10%. Want to work in SV/SF biglaw, then transfer to inhouse at a bigger tech comp or gov a few years in; long term goal may be BIGPOLITICS. Deep SV ties (grew up there, went to Stanford for UG).

Curious about differences between some of the bigger firms in the area - WSGR, GDC, MoFo SF, etc. Also, are there substantive differences between SF and SV biglaw? Is it true that SF is very lit heavy and the real tech corp work is in SV?

1. if you want to do startup/VC work, you HAVE to be in SV at one of the big SV startup focused firms (WSGR, Fenwick, Cooley, etc.)

2. if you want to do bigtime patent/IP litigation, you should be in SV at one of the big lit firms (edit - from have to should, SF has some good IP lit)

3. the only reason to be in SF (work-wise) is real estate (lol) or general commercial lit (lol)
