I'm not sure wtf that means. They all run the same OS and all are "integrated Google shit" because it is a Google OS. Google's Nexus phones are always plane Jane builds with zero bloatware.

But they do tend to get upgrade support for newer operating systems for far longer than other manufacturers.

No he's right. Nexus is getting jellybean this month. S3 will get it in like 6 months at the soonest, if history is any guide.

Right, so like I said, better OS upgrade support. But in practice the differences in each build isn't huge. It is far more important to have a newer, more powerful phone with a better screen than an older phone running the next OS a bit sooner.

It is much cheaper though.

Are there ever going to be good phones with hardware keyboards again? That's the one thing I miss about my BlackBerry. On-screen keyboards are horrible.

Can't do it without looking, though. I could touch-type on my BlackBerry. I just want a goddamn keyboard.

how often do you really type shit on a phone and stare in another direction? like when do you actually need to do this?

I text/gchat while walking a lot. It worked fine when I didn't need to look at the screen while typing.

Droid 4, lg optimus slider, or wait for bb10 in q1 2013

And there will probably be at least one more android slider for the xmas season. Someone's gotta tap that niche.

This makes me feel better. I have no faith in RIM coming out with a decent product at this point, but I want a decent phone with a keyboard if at all possible. Suggestions for AT&T phones?

Also, I would kill for Android and a solid processor in the Torch form factor. RIM is so goddamn disappointing.

I actually don't think at&t has any keyboard phones outside of its blackberries. It really is a peculiar market out there. Everyone just wants thinness; a hardware kehyboard gets in the way of that. Phone manifacturers are just responding to the market. I was in love with the palm pre, and I would love to have something like it back (that isn't underpowered and isn't the bb torch).

Tbf, what virtual keyboards have you used? If you try out a keyboard on a 4.3" or bigger screen, it's much easier to type.

This is the same thing that drives me nuts about laptops, to be honest. I feel like it's increasingly difficult to find a decent laptop with a disc drive in it lately. Everything is all about thin-as-possible. But streaming is all well and good for home, not so much for traveling; good luck getting Netflix to run on Amtrak or airplane wifi. Thus, I still want a disc drive.

And I can type okay on a big phone screen, I just like being able to touch-type without looking.

Most people adjust. You should pay attention yo your surroundings anyway. Are you trying to text while driving or something?

I'd rather the universe adjust to me. Or, I'd rather the universe not actively make my life more irritating.

The laptop thing is such a huge pain in the ass, either way. I know I could rip DVDs to my hard drive, but the point of more-advanced technology shouldn't be to make things (like watching a movie while on a plane or train) that much more difficult.
