Tracking back through the email chain that the request was included in, I can see that they've been talking about this for about 6 weeks, so it makes perfect sense to drop it on the lawyers on a Saturday morning to turn in 36 hours over a weekend. I swear to god this shit is done intentionally to keep legal costs down. The best part is, the client himself is "out of pocket" much of the weekend but is confident the lawyers can pull together the information needed from some junior people at the relevant companies that he offered up. Within 5 minutes of the email, my partner emailed back that everyone was away for the holiday and he would have to call everyone back to the office. He then simply asked, do you really need this Tuesday or will Wednesday work? The client emailed back and said, OK, Wednesday will work.
I never forgot that and have dropped all else when that partner asks for anything. |
