Despite being top 10% after 1L, I finished just short (like by a couple thousandths of a grade point) of cum laude. I also copped 4 federal clerkship interviews but no offers and each judge said something about my downward grade trend in the interview.
It would have been pretty damn nice, and probably better for my career longterm, to start biglaw with latin honors and a SDNY clerkship under my belt instead of being one of a few dudes on the website not even posting a "cum laude." How much does any of this shit matter, I don't know. But I can attest that 2L and 3L grades are not entirely meaningless... and I haven't even tried to lateral yet. |
