I'm close to it right now. To end the fiscal year as the top billing associate (firm wide, all associates), it would require consistent 300 hour months for the next 3-4 months. Our firm gives discretionary bonuses, and I'd likely be looking at a 30-50k bonus.

Is it worth it? I'm doubtful that I want to stay here long term, but I could obviously use a 30-50k bonus not to mention the increased salary bump next year (probably a 20-30k bump). On the downside, my life would absolutely suck for the next few months. However, I am planning a 2 week vaca over the holidays, so there is certainly something to look towards.

Definitely. It helps in a lot of areas if you can and statistically will give you a huge leg up in making partner.

Would you get the salary bump without being top billet. If so, you're looking at 30k bonus + (30k bump - anyway bump)/hours worked, as the amount of money you're getting for each additional hour. If the anyway bump is zero then its worth it. If not, i dunno man

My salary will likely go up by at least 10-15k. It's proportionate to my collections for the fiscal year.

since you obviously work at a ttt firm that doesn't have lockstep salary bumps, so you should remove the stain of your ttt firm on the resume by stating what a hard and diligent worker you are.

Don't mind Nutella. This is just another layer in her lifelong lie to herself that she didn't have to work hard to end up where she is. It's rather sad actually.

No. Marginal amounts of money aren't worth ruining your life and number of hours billed is only in the top 3-5 factors that determine whether you make partner these days.
