If a southern frat dude with knowledge of the scene at different schools were to list off 5 or 6 guesses at which one I'm talking about, mine would almost certainly be on there. Basically a fucking country club / pussy buffet.
But I had serious, non-lib-condescension-tinged ADMIRATION for the black frats, namely the Alphas and the Ques. They didn't pledge them as freshman, but waited until they were proven leaders on campus and selected only the best. They were legit *looked up to* by the non-Greek black community. They had insane loyalty to each other and would politic hard as fuck for their bros (and still do). The frats have genuinely different cultures and values from one another, which span across schools and is instantly fucking recognizable from looking at the alumni of each frat. And, btw, their alumni are impressive as fuck: Alpha has like MLK, Thurgood Marshall, Jesse Owens; the Ques have every other legendary sports figure. |

the culture of ethnic greek life is very very different. my wife is ethnic soror and we have basically greeks at the house every weekend. and we're both 20+ years pledged. neos who cross from different chapters across the country who come home from break are always coming through for dinner, to chill, whatnot, from both our orgs. it's definitely one of the best things i've done. most of my friends are frat from across the country. |
