Success, on the other hand, clarifies. It cuts through illusion because it cannot be explained away. A victory, however small, is proof against self-delusion. It leaves no room for copes, no cover for sickness. Success strips life to its essentials, and in doing so it teaches what failure never can.

IOW, in failure, and Losing, you only grow crooked. The Loser says he has seen life. He says he knows the truth of ruin. He has nothing. His wisdom is the drunkard’s truth, the gambler’s prayer, the last smoke of a man who never had a hand to play. It is coping dressed as philosophy. It is ignorance with a tongue.

Success makes the truth hard and sharp. Success cuts the lies from a man. Without it, you stay soft. You talk of patience, of virtue, of what the world owes. You cling to scraps and call them wisdom. But you are only explaining away the rot.

The man who wins, even once, even small, knows more of life than the Loser who fails forever. For success strips you bare. It shows you the stakes. It tells you what matters. The Loser never learns this. He sits in his ruin and grows proud of his ignorance. He makes a religion of his coping.

Without success, wisdom is only the poetry of failure. And poetry is no weapon when the wolves come. Discuss.
