pensive's whole beef with PG was centered around how YC is essentially a virus which has infected the entire silicon valley ecosystem and structure btw--he would be the first to agree about how important PG was. politically pensive is a hardcore lib and probably agrees with a lot of what you deem "stupid" about PG

sam altman, in comparison, is actually very intelligent. you can say bad stuff about him too, but he's obviously smart, and you can tell just from listening to him talk for a few minutes. paul graham sounds like an idiot in live interviews and also on twitter. the overwhelmingly likely explanation is that he is in fact an idiot |

YC has a ridiculous rate of DVFs (domestic violence founders) and has backed some incredibly unethical companies.
At this point, though, I couldn't care less. We're both old fucking men and it'd be pathetic to still harbor a grudge. When I was young, I thought he had the capacity to show real leadership and punish some of the toxic people around him; now that I'm older, I realize that he was in over his head—a very human thing. |
