Looking back I have to think a bunch of low-level textbook-writing libs thought they were promoting like a "personal favorite" of sorts and didn't realize they were about to over-educate the populace on a historical figure to a degree not seen before or since.
I also theorize that it's a millennial thing, and if you ask a gen z or x they'll only vaguely recognize the name and may not even be able to connect him to peanuts. |
