The other thing you're overlooking is what Western support has looked like. It works like this. You take old E. Euro stocks from places like Poland, and you send it to Ukraine. You really wanted to get rid of those anyway and you promise the Poles that they'll get new NATO stuff in return. And this works pretty well, as long as Poland and others still have old crap they want to get rid of.
Occasionally, you'll get something new like TB-2s, M777s and HIMARs but you already see Russia adapting to these threats. TB-2s are quickly shot down, M777s are getting destroyed and HIMARs are being dealt with as well (you see a lot less victory posts these days from the Ukrainian side). Which is exactly why the West isn't keen on sending their latest and greatest. Once Russia knows how to deal with it, they tell China which also learns how to defeat Western tech and how to improve their own.
All of this is a very long way to say "nope, that isn't going to happen." I also suspect that the further West you go the less Russia will care about not just firebombing a town with everyone in it. I will be outright surprised if Lvov isn't just entirely firebombed and not even out of necessity. |
