Subject: Fletcher and SIS / AU Student bodies

I'd like to hear from folks who have something to say about the Fletcher and AU student bodies. I have had a strong interest in going to Fletcher. In fact, I first considered pursuing IR Masters after meeting Fletcher alums.

However, I've received an full tuition waiver from AU / SIS.

So I'm essentially trying to figure out: is my crush on Fletcher worth 50K in tuition over two years? Is the student body at Fletcher substantively different or more engaging than AU?

I'm a bit different than many applicants. My grad school goal is to give myself an intellectual laboratory to beef up on foreign policy / international affairs issues while I build an advocacy nonprofit.

I have 10 years work experience in major U.S. public interest ngos. I'm looking for a smart, engaging student body. I'm also looking for the "grooming" that might help me down the road if my nonprofit doesn't work out.

However, I've received a full tuition waiver from AU / SIS. I've received $10K scholarship offer from Fletcher (off their $35K tuition). I'm nonprofit (and nonprofit bound), so debt is a big issue.

Basically, AU would be the cost of living and books, and Fletcher would be another $50K above that (over two years).

Any thoughts or reactions?

Fletcher student body=interesting and intelligent for the most part.

AU student body=WIDE range of total dumb asses to smart students.

If you want to build an advocacy group though, you might be better suited for AU simply because it is in DC.
