Brett T. Wohl, 25, a former Chicago resident, admitted on Tuesday that he had threatened to expose the e-mails to the victim's co-workers unless he wired money. Wohl was arrested in May after extorting a total of $5,000 from the victim, who then investigated the messages and discovered they came from a Chicago law firm where Wohl worked as a clerk. Wohl, who is free on bond, is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 15 in federal court in Chicago.
