Subject: Harvard School of Design

I have about a 3.4 (cum laude) from Tulane University in classical studies.

I am from Lafayette, LA; I returned home after undergrad and began work as a paralegal with the intent of law school.

I was appointed to the Board of Zoning Adjustment by the city-council, and I'm considering a career in planning instead.

I want to know if I seem like a good fit for the Harvard school of design -- i.e., Can I get in? I'm interested in it, because of its small size and the emphasis placed on design rather than statistics, etc.

P.S. I haven't even looked at a practice GRE yet.

EDIT: I have heard that I haven't got a good shot at the 'Ivies' because they tend to be less favorable when admitting people from south of the Mason Dixie line. Can anyone confirm this?

they have this weird bias against imbeciles -- which is relaxed considerably at the kennedy school

I got in to HKS, and I live in TX. So, don't think being Southern will hurt you at all. In fact, being from LA and interested in planning, sounds like you have a GREAT admissions essay topic: "Seeing the devastations of Katrina and the challenges of rebuilding yada yada yada..."

Oh, and I had about 10 years of military experience, but my undergrad was a paltry 3.2 from the Naval Academy. Might as well give it a shot!
