Author: heady high-end state juggernaut
I am considering applying for a Marshall Scholarship to begin study in 2011 and am wondering what my chances are.
Ideally, I would like to go to LSE, Oxford, or Cambridge and would like to get a Ph.D. in Sociology. Admittedly, I don't know a ton about this program. Of these schools, I would prefer LSE, purely because of its location. However, I am open to hearing the benefits of Oxford or Cambridge over LSE and am also curious as to what school should be my second choice.
Here are my stats: 3.8 in UG from a TTT state school, M.A. in Sociology from an Ivy League university, and J.D. from a T6. Currently, I am a federal district clerk and my term is up in the summer of 2011. My grades in law school and in my master's program weren't fantastic, but weren't awful either. Also, I have been published and have spent over a year working abroad in Southeast Asia.
So, what are my chances at getting this scholarship? Any chances at LSE/Cambridge/Oxford? Any information would help me, as I just discovered this program. I was planning on applying for a Ph.D. for when my clerkship is up and I feel this would be a perfect fit for me. TYIA.
