Hello,
I am very interested in applying to SIPA for MPA in Development Practice. I am not sure what my chances are of getting in as I have very limited experience working in the Development space. I am originally from South Asia and I am looking to move back eventually and work there in this area. I believe this program will help me build the necessary skills.
Here is my profile:
Education: BS in Computer Science and Minor in Business from a top 10 school. GPA 3.2 (first couple years were bad but pulled through and did well in my junior/senior years)
Work Ex: Worked for 3 months in India (for a software company). Worked for 8 mo in a start-up in the US. Currently working as a project manager for a Wall Street firm for the past 2 years.
Languages: Fluent in 3 South Asian languages.
Recommendations: I should be able to get at least 2-3 good references from the current/past employeers.
Outside of this, I have volunteered extensively for many organizations, helped fundraise and also in the process of helping start a local chapter for a Non-profit Org.
I have also looked at KSG and SAIS. Given the above, what are my chances of getting in? If my chances are low, would it make sense to gain the necessary work-ex/qualifications before applying?
Any feedback would be great!
Thanks,
