Chances at GWU Elliott?

Date: December 12th, 2009 2:17 AM Author: Greedy beady-eyed police squad stage So I'm currently working on grad school applications and wanted some opinions on whether I have a shot of getting into the Elliott School (either in their Int'l Affairs or Security Policy studies program). Here are my credentials:
*3.9 GPA in Int'l Studies/Middle East Studies at a state university (major GPA is 3.95) *GRE scores: 560V, 680Q, 5AW *Have completed internships with the World Affairs Council, Embassy of Afghanistan in DC, Hudson Institute (DC), the State Department and U.S. Senator's state office *Included in several honors societies, Young Professionals in Foreign Policy etc. *Student newspaper (freelancing + editing), volunteer experience (working with homeless) *Studied French for a year in college (4 years prior to that) and have been studying Farsi for the past 3 years *Ethnicity: minority status (Pacific/Hawaiian Islander) *Have traveled abroad, though not extensively and not through any study abroad program
What do you think my chances are of getting into Elliott? Would it be safer for me to apply to their International Affairs program instead of Security Policy Studies (they only let you apply to one program at a time..)?? Also planning to apply to Korbel (@ Denver)and maybe American.

Plus, I'm hoping to begin a program right after finishing my undergraduate studies, so my age will be an unattractive factor... Not worth the money (IR degrees). You can do an MBA for the same cost/# of years, and the MBA opens a hell of a lot more doors than an MA in IR. Unless somebody is loaded, I would never recommend an IR Master's (full price). A top MBA can do everything a SAIS MA can do and then some... I've been planning to re-take the test, but won't be able to get in done in time for Fall 2010 admissions -- plus, SAIS doesn't offer Spring admissions so that'll mean waiting for another year to apply.
