I work in the international education development field and am interested in applying to Harvard GSE's IEP Master's program. Does anyone know their acceptance rate? Also, any idea how much econ/stats are involved? I got my ugrad degree in the humanities, and am a strong writer but not as strong in math.

Any info is welcomed. Thanks!

That actually sounds like a really interesting program, but it seems kind of obscure.

USNews says they admit 50% of all M.Ed. applicants. Harvard internally says around 10% of GSE doctoral cantidates.

Realistically, not that many people want to pay Harvard tuition + Cambridge COL to get a job that pays 45K a year.

Note there is very little money for GSE students by way of aid, since every Harvard school is required to be self-financing and its endowment is small.

The only upside vis-a-vis policy schools I would see is the fact that it is one year (right?).

yup, it's one year. isn't it true that it's hard to get program positions in many ngo's without a master's? any advice for what program may get a bigger bang for the buck?

If I recall correctly, Harvard posts their entry stats on the HGSE website. Or at least I was able to find avg GRE scores. The USNews quoted accpetance rate sounds high, and I think it refers to all of HGSE, not just the IEP program which has a reputation of being more selective.

Can anyone make a qualitative, content, curriculum and reputation comparison of Stanford's, Harvard's, and TC's International Education MA/M.Ed?

Harvard EdD's acceptance rate is around 8% this year, similar to Harvard College (7%) or Political Science PhD (9%). Many Ed.D. students did their undergrad at top institutions such as Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, Yale, Michigan, Columbia, etc., and their EdD is fully funded up to 5 years.

EdD (8%) and EdM (55%) are totally different stories at HGSE. However, there are some Harvard EdM holders who have built up extraordinary careers later, such as the current Dean of Harvard Law School, Martha Minnow (Harvard EdM, then Yale Law JD). So, life is not so much about the acceptance rates of one's degree as what one does with that degree.

I heard the education masters program at UW-Madison is more selective than Harvard EdM can anyone here confirm or reject such a claim?

It is nonsense to discuss the "selectivity of education masters," because there is no such a thing anywhere. Furthermore, the applicants' pool is nation-wide for HGSE, whereas it is usually the state's residents for a state school. So it is meaningless to compare the two programs.

If you are curious of acceptance rates, you could look them up yourself, as most of the schools (especially state colleges) reveal such data somewhere on their web;
