Date: February 28th, 2009 11:49 AM Author: translucent geriatric crackhouse I'm getting tired of all these "IR Chances" threads. The fact is that IR is a total soft, crap degree, which is a total waste of money and time. You are MUCH better off simply getting a job and job experience.
Also, please stop with the "chances" threads. You know your personal background and merits better than anyone else on this board. If you are looking into specific programs, you more than likely researched those programs extensively and know more about your specific programs than anyone else on this board. Thus, you more than likely know your "chances" better than anyone on this board. The best are people who ask about their "chances" even after they have submitted their apps. Suck it up and wait for the results!
In summary: 1. IR is a waste of time. Take off those Birkenstocks and get a job. 2. Stop with the "chances threads" they are annoying and also a waste of everyone's time. 3. GET A JOB! |

IR IS a tad TTT but only if you don't already have connections. I have excellent connections and good stats so I'm not really worried about getting into a top school. But for others who are insecure about their stats and don't know people, I would heed to GradSchoolLOL's advice and GET A JOB! |

But in this job market I'm very happy with an IR/public policy degree. The public sector is still hiring, as are sovereign risk positions - a field in which IR people typically do o.k.
I think the top-10 MBAs are still doing ok, because their alumni networks are still bringing in job opps, but the lower tier mba grads are really suffering. |
