List all the ones worth going for.

-Yale International and Development Economics

-Chicago Committee on International Relations

-Harvard Education School (I know but it's still Harvard)

it really bothers me that nyu is not recognized by peeps for math finance. it's the top dog. then again people usually go by the usual brand names.

Isn't NYU like a top 3 for pure math? I know they are one of the top guys for math, but there are people going to Yale School of Management over Duke and the like, simply because it's Yale.

isn't the nyu program 2 years? i would have listed that if it was only 1 year.

i tend to think of nyu, CMU, columbia and berkeley as being the best for that sort of thing.

having done a 1-year program, I wouldn't recommend it. 8 courses + thesis in one year is a major overload at the graduate level, and you end up cutting serious corners in your work just to finish on time. if i had it to do over again, i either would have simply taken two years to do the program, or I would have gone to a true 2-year program in the first place.

I know multiple people who went through the M.Fin. program at Columbia and said it was the worst year of their lives.

my program actually provided some financial incentives for people who wanted to stretch it into a second year, but they didn't publicize this fact very broadly, because they wanted to crank people through.
