Subject: help please!

I got a 3.48 gpa from a state school (not a good one at that) but it was in departmental honors programs (included thesis and grad level classes). My freshman year I spent at a good private school where my gpa was 3.7 and my gpa when I studied abroad for a quarter was 3.87.

I have some good letters of rec, work experience overseas and some solid research experience... would I still have a chance at schools like LSE, SIPA or Fletcher? If not, is there something i can do to increase my chances and make up for the shitty gpa?

Most programs at LSE will take anyone who can pay, especially "rich" Americans.

As for the rest, you'll only know when you apply. 3.5 is not a shitty GPA. If you have strong GREs, you will be well placed.

Why did you leave your private college? Financial reasons? Are you at your state flagship university?

I take it you're another IR wannabe. I'd worry about finding a place that will fund you rather than getting into a fancy shamcy school and have to borrow 100K for the tuition.

I transferred schools cuz my first year was at a school who wanted $38k even with scholarships and I was paying for school on my own.

The plan was to go into International Development and I'm looking at MPAs as well...

You don't think a degree at one of these schools would ensure a greater job placement? I'm not looking to be rich, but I'm not looking to be broke either...

I read on gradcafe about a guy who got into Georgetown MSFS with a 3.1 GPA (and he was rejected from everywhere else including SIS, Elliot etc.)

Also, SAIS webpage, after it mentions 25%-75% GPA say their class had GPA's from 2.4-4.0

I didnt apply to a number of schools because I thought I would never get in and now I regret it. Just apply and kick ass on your GRE and SOP
