Totally new to Crypto, go easy on me bros

What should a total noob look at buying first? I will probably buy a few staples like ETH and LTC, going to stay way from BTC for the time being. |

If you just want to play it safe and likely 3-5x your money, just buy and hold BTC/ETH/LTC for a year or more. You'll also get the benefits of LTCG tax rate.
If you want to add a slightly higher risk profile and take some measured gambles, you can add a few of the big "altcoins" into the portfolio (think Ripple, etc.) But you'll have to expand onto other trading platforms beyond Coinbase for that, although the major ones are still pretty easy to learn quickly. Binance is a good one.
If you want to shoot for life-changing returns (10-100x gains) then you'll need to diversify out into more obscure altcoins--and in order to get them you'll also need to learn how navigate the tertiary trading platforms, which *might* come with higher risks of fucking up and/or getting hacked (although I think that is overblown if you are smart and careful). EtherDelta and Kucoin are two that you'll hear about on this level. The other issue here is that technically every coin-to-coin exchange is a taxable event... which quickly gets insane and totally unmanageable if you're trading a bunch of little altcoins on a regular basis... |

Date: January 2nd, 2018 4:55 PM Author: gaped know-it-all heaven Get on EtherDelta (although don't STORE any coins on their hosted wallet--transfer your purchases off ASAP). You'll need it get ZIL in a few weeks, anyway. Watch a few YouTube videos to learn the basics of how it works.
These are the small market cap coins that I'm in: PayFair (PFR), Publica (PBL), and OysterPearl (PRL). All small cap coins that are currently available on ED but not available on the bigger trading platforms (yet). No guarantees, but I encourage you to Google them--they're all promising, they all address genuine real-world niches/market needs, and they're all still cheap enough that you can get thousands of coins without breaking the bank. I can tell you that I am up substantially (50%+) on my investment on all of them. I plan to hold them all for at least several months, barring something crazy happening.
If any of them truly skyrocket, congrats. And if they all flounder, just ask yourself this: was that ~$5k you dumped into them (or w/e) really going to change your life, anyway? |
