Edit: dude tried to walk back his comments:
"I am by no means among the lead developers of Tezos and I’m honestly not qualified to give an estimate for release date. Hence I should not have done it. This estimate was based on the hypothesis we release all features we planned, and does not account for an early release with non-critical features removed (which would then be provided later as upgrades). As stated in my original messages, this opinion is not representative of the rest of the team. When I said I am kinda pessimistic, overall is a statement regarding me as a person, regarding estimating development time in general, and not about Tezos nor the development time of Tezos in particular. Quite the contrary, I'm very much optimistic about Tezos and genuinely think development is doing better and better. I made a huge mistake by giving an estimate out of the blue, that might reflect my personal view but is not based on anything else and hence pretty much worthless.
When I see the FUD it creates, I bitterly regret it. So no more talking about Tezos at 2AM on internet chats anymore for me."
