It was a thick, tattered folder that held the 180s.

A great sense of satisfaction overcame him every time he pulled out the manila folder to slip in a few more printouts of threads emblazoned with a "180" for one of his posts. Sure, he had other folders: "Engagement Ring Flame," "Solzy Contributions," "Whokebe Tribute Threads," "Ducktailian" (in two stacks, "Deleted" and "Preserved," which required monthly maintenance), but it's the "180" folder that was the best.
It sat in the front of the five-cabinet file that he picked up at a garage sale outside of Strawberry Mansion in '05. Or maybe it was a swap meet in Redondo in '06. He could never remember. It had a large "In-N-Out" sticker across on side, which inspired another "*THE* Best Burger" folder. And there was the faintest outline of an envelope formerly taped to it that had been used for tips at the restaurant where the cabinet originally stood.
Now he flipped through the 180s, pausing to examine the contents therein: a refrigerator thread, something about New Year's Eve, a Caribbean cruise, something about Will Smith.
And then he returned the folder and rifled through the drawers, a small smile escaping his lips at each name, another moniker he'd created: C+C, now Stabby, then To be fair, here's twist, that's Rowan, this is Blue Smoke. Each file with a single sheet recalling the biographical information that should be revealed, hidden, or left ambiguous; each with a contact for a place to obtain "photos" of the poster; each with a secret e-mail address.
At "meetups," the charade was more complex. He'd tuck a half dozen folders under his arm and find a local actor's studio (non-unionized) to pick out who'd be lonestar for the evening (lisp? no lisp? so many choices), and who'd be ChicagoAdChick (hot and drunk? just hot? just drunk?), and when they'd each arrive. And he, the puppetmaster, would pull up in some kind of second-hand Acura with a woman on his arm and enjoy the "meetup."
But with a knock on the door, he hastened to shove the docs back. Look busy! Quick! Find something to do!
"Fish, what are you doing in there?"
