You will be fine. At this point just reviewing and memorizing the law over and over is key

Just semi-outline essays and read through their model answers, relook at the essay question and see if you can spot the issues they spotted. This is just like memorizing plus it teaches you the law and how to write it for the bar. I thought the essays would be difficult and I would forget everything on gameday, it turned out opposite and i felt as if i just crushed the essays. I obviously don't know what my essay scores were but I did get a 163 mbe. Your study approach seems fine. I did not follow the course the last two weeks and instead just commited myself to knowing as much law as possible

This is credited. Would outline as many of these essays as possible and make sure you can spit rules without hesitating.
And OP, if you attended a decent LS, you are very, very likely to pass.

I'd shoot to outline and review about 80 essays.
Decent LS is a proxy for not being an idiot, and as long as you're not an idiot, you'll pass.

I self studied for maybe three weeks before the exam. very possible to pass but you gotta buckle down right now.
do as many mcs as you can and study every single answer. I did notecards that I looked at at least three times a day for every wrong answer. Writing out essays is a waste of time - poaster above has it right to say you should outline + review model answers.

I did the same in a state with 1/3 failing.
If you are smart (165+ LSAT) and spend an average of 8 hours per day for 3 weeks prior to the exam you will pass.

OP, you are completely fine, seriously. ALl this shit about studying 8 hrs a day isn't even necessary. There are like 11 total subjects you need to know - MBE + Domestic Relations, Wills, Trusts, NY Practice, Corporations. Review more essays but you don't fucking need 80.

yeah i agree with the above. 80 essays? no one can do that. that means youd have to stop memorizing and stop doing other crap. i'm also a first time NY bar taker too. I have gotten 5s on everything I submitted (I submitted about 8 essays for grading and 2 MPTs). My national rank on the simulated mbe was 64% (which was in the "green"). I am memorizing for the most part of my day and doing practice questions and whatever for 3-4 hours a day.
I didn't go to a T-14, but I am confident I can pass. Don't be nervous.

You could probably pass by a significant margin right now.
btw I never got the essay scoring. Is it a bell curve with 5 as the average? Because people who fail get their essay scores and they aren't to the nearest 1/3 like Barbri, they're to two decimal points. I don't get that.

No. People who get their essay scores get a "scaled" score. You will never know what you got out of 10 points ("raw" score), hence the decimal points. They round up or round down raw scores.
barbri states that a 5 is passing on the essay.
p.s, thanks -- i hope i do pass because i've been nervous, freaking out, and all that shit for the whole time and now i'm just like fuck it -- gotta study and not let nerves get to me.

Yeah, I know that 5 is passing according to Barbri. It seems like scores are tightly clustered around 5 but does a 5.5 make up for a 4.5, etc? Or is 5 some magic number on every essay?

but as a first-time taker, I can't be screwed. you just gotta focus.

I've basically only written out three essays. The two that were used to provide everyone with averages, and the graded essay from the midterm. Didn't do MPTs. As I mentioned, I took the midterm MBE.
Briefly in the beginning of my studies, I followed the assignments for drills and MPQ questions. But thereafter, I basically only dedicated my time to filling in the outlines for the lectures. I'm slightly behind, finishing up watching Secured Transactions as I type.
My study habits are lackluster to say the least.
How about you guys?

well, I am certainly not listening to Barbri when they say this subject is "small" or "unlikely" or whatever. I am covering EVERY subject... taking no chances...No-Fault was on there this past summer...the bar examiners are free to do whatever they wish so you can't really take any chances.
I've submitted about 7 essays for grading and 2 MPTs for grading.
NYP is the worst subject but also the most "mechanical" next to Wills & Trusts..it's easy to figure out what happens, but the trouble is memorizing those rules.
I'm at 57% for the paced program schedule too. I am not following it anymore. I hate AMP

well people in the past have been successful without AMP. AMP is good to randomly test you on rules but not for substantive law studying.
I took NYP in law school so I have familiarity with it but some of the stuff is just down right nuts, i.e., crazy return dates, motion practice, and all that. ugh.
I also hate federal jdx with its supplemental jdx and all that nonsense too. Worst subject ever next to Conflicts of Laws.

worst things on the bar:
1. servitudes
2. fed jurisdiction/third party practice
3. conflict of laws
4. commercial paper (types of liability, etc)

I dont think servitudes are that bad-- just need to remember "WITNES" and all that crap. An implied equitable servitude will be considered if the subdivisions conform to common plan or scheme of the neighborhood and if there was A-I-R.
I def agree with #2, 3, and 4!!!!!!!
I was trying to figure out supplemental jdx for fed jdx, and i thought it was a load of bs -- who the hell remembers this crap anyway in real life? removal is worse.
I hate commercial paper -- i understand what a negotiable instrument is and a draft but otherwise it's ridic.
