most of them come back heavily edited, or "how come you didn't address...."

here's the secret for getting to write briefs early. glomp on to the new third year (coming off two year clerkship), slightly awkward superstar who is in high demand among partners for brief writing. They get overwhelmed, don't know anyone to pawn work off on, so will come to you.

Yes and no. The more complex the issue the more likely they'll get heavily edited.

Also depends heavily on the partner. I've worked with some partners who go through a dozen drafts of a response to a motion to compel and a half dozen versions of responses to production requests.

Others make edits around the edges of your MSJ.
