NYC M&A v20. Got offer for 120k LA 9-6 in house. Seems low. Lots of my friends in my class year recently got 200-240k in the Northeast. Is this just a low offer or decent for CA market? Considering making a move out west for change of pace/lifestyle.

google is on the higher end but depends on the position. the more junior positions for 4th-5th year pay well below $180k.

$120k is pretty low. i think you should be expecting closer to $150k depending on the industry.

from my experience, the best paying are tech companies in SV. for 5th year level, it ranged from $145-165k for the positions i've interviewed at.

low end is LA entertainment (ranging from $125-150k) for 5th-6th year mid-level associate.

i've not interviewed at any finance-type place, which i imagine may pay more, but not like there's much finance out here in CA.

things work differently in CA than in NY.

there's not as much need for m&a, securities, compliance, public company experience etc. but a ton more need for licensing, distribution, privacy experience etc.

that is way low. in the Bay Area assuming you have a good pedigree it should be at least 150-180 base, bonus brings it close to 200, and then for public companies or large startups another 30-60k in stock grants/options
