they're terrible. most apps dont work. touch screen not responsive. slow as fuck. i like android but on a shitty tablet like this, it's going to be awful.

i wouldnt waste my $59.

Yeah I'm not buying it, no urge for a tablet yet, but it's pretty interesting to see the price points. I'm sure it's good enough to do a lot.

Just like with phones.

Except with phones it was the other way around, they were never really the leader in hardware but they were the leader in software. Then android caught up. With tablets it's not on Google, android's already there, it's on the hardware manufacturers. Yes I'm sure the entire market of hardware manufacturers other than apple won't produce a good tablet.

Windows 8 stuff will also probably catch up.

Not really, Android has never caught up in phones in actual terms, its not even close. Apple takes more than 50% of ALL industry profits on smartphones, they don't give a fuck about marketshare-they are the higher end of the market, always have been, always will be. Android is a fragmented lower end product, this is why developers introduce new apps on the iPhone first. Android hardware is also cheaper and doesn't have the look/feel of iPhone and iPad.

Some android hardware is cheaper and worse, and some is easily just as good quality-wise and better peformance-wise. This is an obvious aspect of having an open distribution system and so many models. Also, LOL at not having fucking 4G.

My hat is off to Apple for raking in more profits. But as a consumer, why would I give a flying fuck about which product has a higher margin on it? If anything that should be a red flag that I'm overpaying.

Of course consumers don't care about margins, I was addressing your absurd suggestion that Android has somehow bested Apple in phones, when nothing could be further from the truth. The iPhone rules the smartphone market.

MOST android hardware is worse/cheaper overall, some is better in SOME aspects and none is better overall. The overall Apple ecosystem experience is far superior though, this is evidenced by the fact that most people who switch, switch to Apple from Droid, vice versa is extremely rare (Android retention is barely half, Apple retention rate is 90%+).
