Slightly less used malibu, accord, altima, etc.

When the difference isn't that huge and you don't mind racking up high miles, it seems like why not go for a little bit better performance and looks etc.?

I believe that the right car won't be very high maintenance and will go to 200k and beyond.

I think a lot of people are irrationally afraid of having a high mileage used car because they are mechanical illiterates.

That's true. Most would be dumbfounded if starter went out. If you can do that stuff yourself then its (usually) just a matter of preference. Most motors will last to 200k with good maintenance.

I'd go with G35 or TL. G35 looks the best, imo, but TL's last forever and look ok.

higher mileage Japanese car. don't but an older euro or US car. in my experience Japanese cars are still far more reliable, but YMMV.
