So assuming Miami fails again in the Finals, where do they go?
OKC (if the manage to keep James Harden) has a younger core and a better overall team. They aren't going anywhere.
Dwyane Wade seems like he's aging rapidly, and his style of play lends itself to injuries/ aging quickly.

However its difficult to have arguably the worst starting PG and the worst starting C together and just about the worst bench in the league too.
Clearly their problem is that James and Wade have games that are too similar or at least not complementary. Plus they will always have the whose team is it who defers to who down the stretch etc.
Moving Bosh isn't necessary he can play with either of them. They need to move Wade for a star at center or PG or a big upgrade at both positions.
Or just ride it out. After all they have made the finals now twice in a row and if they weren't awful at PG and C and the bench they very well might have won last year and could still this year. Continuing to ride it out and just try to continue to upgrade might very well work out. If they had an average starting PG or average starting center or average bench, just one of those three might be enough to push them over the top despite their issues. They are still relatively young with their core big 3 and they are not THAT far away from being good enough to win it all anyway.
Pat Riley is a good GM. When this team was originally put together they had to scramble to fill it out with whatever they could get and then this past off-season with the lockout they were limited as well. But with a normal full off season they will be in a better position to convince some ring chasing veteran to come for a one year flyer or some younger guy to come play for a little bit yes. Maybe go after Kidd as a free agent or try to get Nash for a discount or sign and trade or something.
Even if they can't swing anything like that even an upgrade like the Lakers did going from Derek Fisher to Ramon Sessions would make a huge difference here. They don't need to be good at either PG or C or bench, just average, or at least not virtually the worst in the league everywhere outside of the top 3 and they are probably going to win anyway.
I don't think they will win this year but I think they are really close so I doubt they will break it all up they will just push to try to get over the hump by adding on a bit this off season. |

if you're Miami you want to find a way to keep Westbrook doing more of the shooting than he should. he's the weak link of their big guns and he's dumb enough to keep chucking (similarly, OKC is going to have to swallow hard when he comes looking for max money next year). the Heat also need to get their shit together defensively. it was like they had never seen a screen before.
