Why the hell would you need to live in downtown LA? It absolutely sucks. If you wanna get out of NYC but still want tall buildings then go to Chicago or Boston.

I really like Chicago but I hate the midwest and need to live on the coast. Also, I like that L.A. is warm. Is downtown L.A really that much of a shithole? Describe.

Parts of downtown LA are actually really fucking cool, and reminiscent of the Bowery/LES some years ago. It's full of small immigrant shops, indigents, and grit, but there's also a surprising number of contemporary art galleries, bars/club, hip restaurants and slick urban lofts. It'd be my neighborhood of choice if I lived in LA.

Downtown LA is getting better faggots. Area around Staples Center/LA Live looks okay. It is not MFH but whatever. I'd prefer to live near the beach, or just do SF. It is colder but still better weather and ppl than NYC
