after studio 60 was universally rejected by audiences and critics alike, the only logical thing to do was double down: we'll use the exact same premise; exact same character archetypes; exact same behind-the-scenes look into the production of a national television show and the accompanying back-and-forth between boardroom realism and producer/on-air talent idealism-but hey let's change self-righteous sketch comedy show explaining how stupid non-coastal dwellers are to self-righteous news show modeled after keith olberman (what could go wrong?) that explains how stupid non-coastal dwellers are while various characters make constant check ups as to whether other characters understand what is at stake here, because what we are doing is *important*; oh and we'll have some pratfalls and a love triangle and about 70% of the way through season one we'll see that one of the reptiles talking about the bottom line and wearing $3000 suits is really a p-r-i-n-c-i-p-l-e-d guy or gal and we all have something to learn from each other and we ought to reflect on the way that: Things Used To Be Different and oh yeah there will be a few Gilbert and Sullivan references.

Every HBO show that doesn't feature sociopathic levels of violence and lots of softcore porn scenes sucks. They should stick with the one formula they have that works. If the anchor dude decapitates his assistant they will have a hit.

it's amazing that house millennials are still thinking about watching this considering how objectively awful studio 60 was.

the reviewers for the new york times, huffington post and the new yorker all *trashed* it. not like equivocal support but damning with faint praise, but rather how could you have possibly thought this wouldn't seem like hacky maudlin pandering libtard crap because even an egomaniacal faggot on his fourth day of a freebase and ladyboy bender fighting for the common man from his trashed suite at the chateau marmont should have figured this one out.

the new yorker review was the one that killed my enthusiasm. when the new yorker says your shit is preachy shitlibism, you know you've got a problem.

i actually like almost all of his stuff that i've seen (a few good men is a great movie, social network was too, west wing was consistently decent, etc.) and like one of the reviewers said-i think the new yorker writer-i even watched studio 60 up to the end, because i like his style more than lots of stuff on tv, even when the substance isn't there. i thought he'd acknowledged in interviews that mistakes were made, but it seems like he's just decided to tell everyone: no fuck *you* i'm right and you're wrong and i'm going to keep writing this one until someone calls me a genius.

i fucking love west wing and thought social network was really good. never watched studio 60. i was psyched to see what he'd do here. i'll probably watch unless it's completely unbearable just for the love i hold for WW, but i'm prepared to be very disappointed.

saw it coming from a mile away.

it's not just that studio 60 was painfully bad but that his reaction to its failure was so pathetically delusional. hes living in a bubble where people* tell him hes a brilliant writer and he has no idea how laughable his shtick is.

*shitboomers
