Flyertalk is ignoring this question, so here goes:
I am flying from a domestic airport in the midwest to ATL and catching an international flight with a 55m layover. I'm pretty sure the connecting flight departs out of the new international terminal. I'm flying in First/BusinessElite on both segments, which operate with 757s. Can I make it? Will my bags make it? tyia

Just go to One Flew South, have a few cocktails, then go to Popeyes. Take the next flight.

Yes and yes, although you're cutting it close. Same airline? Then no worries.
If you have to check in again, could be dicey.

i've always flown out of ATL, including internationally with < 1 hour layovers and never had a problem w/ bags. assuming the same airline. obviously depends if your first flight is delayed etc... but i wouldn't worry man

I was unable to make it to an overseas flight out of SFO from LAX with a 1 hour layover after there was taxiing delay so it's close . They actually went back to the gate so that all the passengers on int'l flights could get off and go home rather than chance being stuck there
If the delay isn't a mechanical failure you'll spend the night in the airport
