For CA BAR Exam Only:

Is it better to memorize from CMR or lecture hand outs or combine both?

CMR only gives you six MBE subjects. what do you do for state specific - the long outlines?

not even close as in.. not even in close in comparison like CMR is hands-down a necessity? as in not a "too close to call" situation?

there's a reason people only score 60% after sitting through MBE lectures. it's not giving you 40% of the shit you need to know. all of that is in the CMR.

i don't think he's saying that

if you knew the material in the lecture handout cold you would score more than 60%

the problem is you probably only retain 70% of what's in teh lecture handout

this isn't totally true

the lectures give you 80% of what you need, the other 20% you pick up in doing practice questions

there is no reason you need to read the CMR cover to cover if you're doing lectures + practice Qs

I took NY and relied on lecture handouts (passed).

But for CA, one of my friends who took July 2011 and passed. But he relied on CMR only.

I am thinking of combining both CMR+Lecture handouts

this is what i'm doing.

i was getting ~70% on MBE Qs cold, so lectures seemed useless.

state subjects are totally foreign to me though so lectures have been useful.

if you are getting 70% mbe cold you should stop studying that now and switch to state

not flame

i basically did.

i took every bar course in law school so this shit's been pretty easy so far.

i am still gonna do a ton of MBE review Qs though just to make sure. the state stuff honestly looks harder.

LOL at having attended a TTT LS where they actually taught you black letter law instead of just the philosophy behind and policy rationales for random areas within each subject.

for ca, lecture notes + sample essay answers. CMR for stuff that doesn't stick

sample answers should be your bible, especially the ones for more recent exams. even the lecture notes are misleading about what actually gets tested the most.

the whole point of doing the lectures is that they help you remember what actually gets tested consistently. the CMR is comprehensive, but good luck remembering shit after you read the CMR! it's like reading the fucking phonebook: so boring

wouldn't reading the long outline be more interesting? isn't it exactly the same as the CMR but with hypos thrown in here and there?
