SENIOR VOLUNTEER ATTORNEY—UNPAID Adjudication Division
The Commission on Human Relations is seeking an experienced attorney to assist in its Adjudication Division, which receives, investigates, and adjudicates complaints of discrimination under Chicago’s Human Rights and Fair Housing Ordinances.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be a member in good standing of the bar of any jurisdiction, with at least five years of experience in law-related work.
Preference: Strong legal research and writing skills and a demonstrated interest in civil rights law. Ability to use a personal computer including MS Outlook and MS Word. Ability to commit at least two days per week for one year.
Residency Requirement: City of Chicago residency is not required.
2012 Salary: Unpaid; will cooperate with programs providing academic credit.

Employers keep seeing how far they can push it. First they dropped benefits, then they lowered salaries, then they made outrageous demands ("you will give up your whole life and be worked to death like a horse"), and now they're going to see if they can just the work without paying for it at all.
And they'll win. God damn them but they'll win. |

And if they have been attorneys for five years, why would they want to commit to two days a week of free labor? Are they that desperate?
And if they have enough money to be able to do volunteer work, then why do that with the City of Chicago (i.e., government)? |
